Java Preanger Mount Puntang Single Origin Arabica Coffee Bean
As Indonesia grows in popularity as a global coffee hub, experts are exploring different regions to know about the types of coffee that originate there. West Java, the province with the highest population, is home to the region of Priangan. The mountainous expanse features numerous peaks and high elevations of land.
In the early 1900s, early Dutch settlers chose West Java to cultivate coffee trees- the first coffee plantation outside of Ethiopia and Arabia- and gave rise to the well-known Java Puntang coffee. The trees grow at an altitude of up to 1600 meters above sea level and have a rich plantation history. Hence, the elevation and altitude are exactly why the mountainous area of West Java was chosen for plantation.
Unlike green coffee beans cultivated from trees in the eastern region, those from the Java Preanger region have a sweeter and fruitier flavor and an herbal aftertaste rather than a harsher and nuttier one. This is mainly because of the rainfall and low temperatures of the environment that help in providing the perfect conditions.
A large population of the world’s coffee enthusiasts favors the sweeter taste of Java coffee, and it was this global preference that led to the term ‘Java; being used interchangeably with ‘coffee’. However, don’t be fooled, because only true Arabica Java Puntang coffee beans pass the standard.
Our sustainable and environmentally friendly cultivation process begins with farmers who grow and harvest coffee cherries organically. Hence, they don’t use fertilizers, roast the coffee. Therefore, you can experience the authentic taste of Java Puntang coffee.
